Yakima Folklife Contra Dance
at The Seasons Performance Hall
is social interaction set to music. The figures are similar to those of old-time square dancing and are combined in
different ways for each different dance.
A caller teaches the figures beforehand and cues the dancers throughout as needed. All are welcome regardless of experience.
ALWAYS live music, ALWAYS fun!
Contraversatile is a local band that’s been playing for
dances, parties and receptions for 14 years. With our bodhran (irish drum), accordion, guitar, fiddle and driving piano,
great music happens, inspiring dancers to get on their feet.
The caller is Joe Michaels from Seattle; an exciting, experienced caller, an excellent musician
in his own right. His sweet gentle style encorages those “non dancers” to give it a try.
